KGH provides a variety of therapeutic social skills groups. We have listed some of our most popular along with their descriptions. All groups are billable to your insurance company.
Play pals is an interactive group for 3-6 year olds, targeting social language and friendship development. Participants in this group will come together and play in our toy town. This group is led by a Licensed Speech Therapist. This group meets 1 time per week for 1 hour.
Let’s Play is geared for children with limited or emerging social relationship skills and social language skills by providing a nurturing environment to develop and enhance his/her social language, peer relationships and sensory regulation in a group environment. Let’s Play is appropriate for children who struggle to express their thoughts and feelings independently and have had limited success with group activities. This group meets 1 time per week for 1 hour and is led by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
TASK is geared for children who need work mastering their social relationship skills and social language skills in a peer enriched environment. TASK is appropriate for children who can maintain regulation while independently expressing their thoughts and feelings. This group meets 1 time per week for 1 hour and is led by a Licensed Speech Therapist.
The goal for children in this group is to build the necessary skills for success in social situations. Areas addressed include relationship development, play and friendship skills as well as social thinking. This group meets 1 time per week for 1 hour and is led by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
The goals for this group include enhancing social and relationship development by increasing pragmatic language, conversation skills, as well as sensory regulation in a group environment. This group meets 1 time per week for 1 hour and is led by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
Our Girls Group is geared towards girls who are in need of strengthening their social language and beginning/maintaining friendship skills. The girls will focus on relationship skill building such as reading non-verbal and verbal cues, participating in age-appropriate activities that are of common interest, and overall development of social cognition skills. This group is facilitated by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker meeting 1 time per week for 1 hour.
Tween & Teen Group is for middle school through high school age students who would benefit from increasing higher level social thinking and social skills development. Some specific areas include increasing social cognition, theory of mind
skills and executive functioning skills. Additionally, this group will focus on school related concerns such as issues with bullying, etc. This group is led by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker meeting 1 time per week for 1 hour.
This group is for pre-teens and teens who would benefit from a small group improving important life skills such as developing leisure skills, chores such as laundry (on site washer/dryer), reading & using train/bus schedules, independent skills, food preparation, purchasing/using money, etc. This group is facilitated by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst or Licensed Clinical Social Worker meeting 2 times per week for 1 hour.
